Most FAAC welding and fabrication work in New York runs between $350 and $900 installed, depending on whether we’re repairing a cracked hinge mount, replacing a sheared bracket, or fabricating a custom operator cradle for an older FAAC model that parts catalogs no longer cover. We stock common FAAC-compatible weldments on the truck and can typically handle the repair same day when the gate is safe to operate manually. Owners usually find us after the gate starts sagging, a hinge tears loose from the column, or a weld on the operator mount gives way and the motor arm starts flopping instead of driving.
We’re an independent service company, not affiliated with FAAC, which means we’re free to tell you honestly whether a weld repair will hold or whether the bracket is too far gone and needs to be replaced entirely. Dean Prescott has been doing this long enough to know that a FAAC gate that’s been “held together by optimism and cable ties” usually needs more than a quick pass with a welder.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
This page matters most for owners of FAAC swing-gate operators (the 400, 412, 415, and 750 series) and the slide-gate models in the 740 and 844 lines. The weld points that fail first on these units are the hinge brackets, the operator mounting plates, and the gate-to-operator attachment arms. FAAC uses a mix of galvanized steel and aluminum across their housing and bracket lines, and mixing those metals in a weld job without the right filler rod is a fast way to get galvanic corrosion, especially in New York where road salt and coastal humidity get into everything.
Identifying the right part starts with the model number stamped on the operator’s data plate, usually found on the underside of the housing or inside the cover. From there we match weldments by physical measurement, because FAAC changed bracket dimensions between the older 400 series and the current 415 models, and they’re not interchangeable. For OEM parts, the FAAC part numbers for gate brackets and mounting hardware are stamped directly into the steel on most units built after 2010. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist for the simpler brackets and hinge plates, and we carry the ones that measure identically to OEM spec. For anything load-bearing, we’ll tell you straight up whether aftermarket is safe or whether you’re better off with a genuine FAAC replacement.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- Gate sagging at the hinge side. This almost always means a hinge weld has cracked or a hinge bolt has wallowed out its hole. The gate still works, but every cycle puts more stress on the operator motor because it’s now lifting the gate as it swings.
- Loud creaking or popping when the gate moves. That’s metal flexing against a cracked weld. The crack may be hairline and hard to see under paint, but the sound tells you it’s there and spreading.
- Operator arm vibrating or shaking during travel. The operator mount bracket is working loose or a weld on the cradle has fractured. Left alone, the vibration eats the gearbox bearings and you’re looking at a motor replacement on top of the weld repair.
- Gate stops mid-travel or reverses unexpectedly. A bent or cracked attachment arm changes the travel geometry enough to trip the FAAC’s obstruction sensing. The operator thinks it hit something; really, the metal is flexing.
- Visible rust bleeding from a bracket or mount. In New York, rust at a weld joint means water has penetrated the seam. What you can see on the surface is typically a third of what’s actually corroded underneath.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what we quote across New York for common FAAC weld and fabrication repairs:
- Hinge weld repair, single hinge: $150 – $300
- Operator bracket replacement (OEM or matched aftermarket): $250 – $450 installed
- Custom operator cradle fabrication: $400 – $700 depending on steel gauge and finish
- Gate frame crack repair and reinforcement: $300 – $600 depending on crack length and access
- Full hinge replacement with weld-in new assemblies: $450 – $900 for a pair on a standard residential swing gate
Every one of those numbers is the installed price, parts and labor together. What changes the range is access (a gate column against a retaining wall takes longer to weld around), the thickness of the existing steel, and whether we’re repairing or replacing the part. The price you’re quoted is the price you pay, written down before the first weld arc gets struck. And every weld repair carries the full 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within the year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check for a failing weld yourself: look for hairline cracks in the paint at hinge and bracket joints, push on the gate and watch for flex at the mounting points, and listen for that popping sound while the gate cycles. But here’s where DIY goes wrong: a load-bearing weld on a gate bracket is not the same as patching a metal fence post. The gate weighs hundreds of pounds, it cycles under motor torque daily, and a weld that’s not properly penetrated or has the wrong filler for the metal type will fail without warning. A falling gate or a detached operator arm in a New York driveway is a serious safety hazard. Keep the gate in manual mode, don’t run it, and call us at (845) 259-0242 for a real number before you touch anything with a grinder.
FAQs
Factory FAAC welds on hinges and brackets typically last 8 to 12 years in New York before showing fatigue, with coastal properties in Queens and Staten Island running shorter because of salt air. A properly executed repair weld with the right filler and rust prep should match or beat the original lifespan. Call (845) 259-0242 and we’ll give you an honest read on whether your weld is worth repairing or replacing.
Yes, most cracked brackets can be welded if the crack hasn’t spread into the bolt holes and the surrounding steel still measures full thickness. If the metal is thinned from rust or the crack runs through a mounting point, we recommend replacement because a repaired thin section will crack again. Most single hinge weld repairs and bracket replacements take 1 to 2 hours on site once the gate is disconnected from the operator. Custom fabrication work, like a new operator cradle for an older FAAC model, takes a day or two at our shop before we install it. We’ll give you a real arrival window and a clear timeline before we start.
We carry common FAAC swing-gate hinge brackets, operator mounting plates, and attachment arms on the truck for the 400 and 415 series, along with matched aftermarket equivalents for the older 412. If your model needs a part we don’t carry, we have it ordered within a day in most New York cases. Tell me what the gate is doing, or not doing, and I’ll give you a real number before we hang up.
