FAAC Gate Installation in New York: What to Know First

We install FAAC gate systems across New York’s five boroughs and nearby counties, and most residential jobs go from first call to a working gate inside five to seven business days. We’re an independent FAAC service provider, not an authorized dealer, which means we quote the job honestly and use parts that actually make sense for your gate. Whether you’ve got a FAAC 400 swing operator that quit mid-arc or a C721 sliding operator that’s been grinding its gear rack for months, call (845) 259-0242 and we’ll give you a real number before any work starts.

How FAAC Products Fail – and How We Fix Them

FAAC builds solid operators, but every line has its own failure pattern after years of New York weather and daily cycles. Here’s what we actually see in the field:

  • FAAC 400 series swing operators: blown capacitors and dead motors. The 400 is the most common residential FAAC in New York, often on Queens and Staten Island driveways. The capacitor that kicks the motor into motion burns out after enough summers of high humidity, and the symptom is a gate that hums but won’t move. We test the capacitor on-site, and if the motor’s gone too, we often recommend swapping the whole operator rather than patching a 15-year-old board.
  • FAAC 415 and 412 operators: stripped limit cams. These use mechanical limit switches to tell the gate where to stop. The plastic cams wear down over time, and the gate starts over-traveling, slamming the post or bouncing back. We replace the cam assembly with OEM parts when available, because aftermarket cams tend to slip and re-introduce the same problem within a season.
  • FAAC C720/C721 sliding operators: gear rack misalignment and worn drive pins. On sliding gates, especially the heavier ones in the Bronx and upper Manhattan, the drive gear wears against the rack and the gate starts shuddering or stalling halfway. We check the rack alignment, replace the worn pins, and re-seat the motor plate. If the rack itself is chewed up, we’ll tell you that before we quote, not after.
  • FAAC 750 and 770 hydraulic operators: cold-weather sluggishness. These are commercial-grade units, but in New York winters the hydraulic fluid thickens and the gate moves like it’s underwater. We flush and replace the fluid with a cold-rated hydraulic oil, and we’ll check the pump pressure while we’re at it. This is a job most general contractors won’t catch, because they assume the motor’s the problem.
  • FAAC E024U control boards: fried relays from power surges. Con Edison brownouts and lightning storms take a toll on older boards. If your gate opens fine manually but the remote does nothing, the relay on the E024U has likely welded itself shut. We replace the board or the relay and add a surge suppressor so it doesn’t happen again in the next storm.

Our FAAC Gate Installation Process

  1. 1
You call, we listen. We ask what the gate is doing or not doing, what model number is on the operator label, and whether it’s a swing or slide. That call usually tells us which parts to bring.
  2. 2
We arrive with the right gear. Our techs carry common FAAC parts including capacitors, limit cams, gear pins, control boards, and hydraulic oil, plus the full tool kit for mounting and alignment.
  3. 3
We diagnose before we quote. We test voltage, check the stops, listen to the motor, and inspect the hinge or track. Then we write the price down, including parts and labor, before we turn a single bolt.
  4. 4
We install, align, and test. Whether it’s mounting a new FAAC 400 operator, replacing a control board, or aligning a sliding rack, we do the work and then cycle the gate at least a dozen times with a load on it.
  5. 5
We set the safety edges and photo eyes. FAAC operators rely on obstruction detection. We test the edges and beams so the gate reverses cleanly, not a half-second too late.
  6. 6
We leave the site clean and hand you the written guarantee. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is stamped on the invoice. If it fails inside that year, we return at no charge, on our truck, on our time.

What FAAC Gate Installation Costs in New York

Here’s what we typically see in this market:

  • Replacing a burned-out capacitor on a FAAC 400: $140 – $210
  • Swapping a complete FAAC 400 operator head: $1,100 – $1,700
  • Replacing limit cams on a FAAC 415/412: $180 – $280
  • New control board (E024U) with surge protection: $450 – $700
  • Full FAAC sliding gate install with track, motor, and safety edges: $4,800 – $8,500
  • Hydraulic fluid flush and pressure adjustment on a FAAC 750/770: $350 – $550

What moves the price is gate weight, travel distance, whether the existing mounting plate can be reused, and whether the wiring run needs to be replaced. We quote it in writing before work begins. Call (845) 259-0242 for a free estimate, and we’ll tell you the number before we hang up.

Why New York Homeowners Call Portcullis Gate Repair New York for FAAC Work

Most of our FAAC customers have already been burned once. A technician who showed up late, guessed at the problem, replaced a part that didn’t fix it, and vanished when the gate failed again. That’s what the Kingswell Guarantee exists to prevent. Every job gets a written price before work, a real arrival window, a clean site, and a written guarantee for 365 days. If the repair fails inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge, no argument. Dean Prescott and our crew work on nine operator brands including FAAC, LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing, so if your property has a mix, we troubleshoot the whole system, not just one brand’s box.
